I Got Los(t) In The City

Nazirah Ashari. Turning 24. Current city: Kuala Lumpur. Trivia: She once slept like a homeless at Union Station. That darling was something.

#14 This is official, I feel old

I know, I know, I know… I owe you some entries. Not that I don’t want to write or post any, just that last week have been ridiculously insane. The workload is killing me. And not that I’m not used to it… it’s just that last week’s content was a bit tough for me.

They say a journalist is a quasi-expert of everything and anything but they’re wrong. How can I deal with engineering-related content when I have very little background on it? Furthermore I have very little interest too. Sigh.

Ah, work matters aside. Let’s update on all thing hip and cool. It was Urbanscapes weekend baby. Yes, the so-called “art festival” of Klang Valley is back again. I had a number of talks with a number of friends about it. Most of us hesitated to go. And I was… well still restless from all the insane workload I had to dealt with on weekdays.

Somehow I felt the urge of going to de-stress. What a lame excuse, no? But gotta admit that it was that Khottal tweet that made me say, “Ah, I miss them now.” That was it. The Malacca-band Khottal was the reason I went to Urbanscapes. And then my ultimate favorite Seven Collar T-Shirt will be performing too. So yeah, I said, why not?

Ah, I should just let the pictures speak for itself. I don’t take much pictures. And I know for the fact that my pictures aren’t any good so I’m only gonna upload some.

One thing that I felt for sure was how I felt old in such a surrounding —- hot chicks, fashionistas, urban peeps in the best kicks. I might be 24 this year but I already felt like I’m 34. I should’ve just stick around at home… sleeping and getting my rest.

Oh and on another note: the venue. I’ve been to Urbanscapes since it’s first installment at KL Sentral and when they started moving to KLPAC as their trademark venue (except for last year, I was in LA). The idea of Astaka PJ as venue is pretty decent. It’s a good central location for both the people of KL and Selangor. It’s a huge padang making it a good venue for everything and anything. It’s not too cramped up but the parking is damn bad. So to those who opt for LRT, here’s a salute to y’all wise men. KLPAC is still my favorite for its architecture and landscape. It has that feel y’know… that feel is what I see is lacking this time around.

OK, I should stop with the words. Now here are the pictures:

Look at these three peeps chilling out at the main stage area.

Ah, I love this picture of me with my jagung. Thanks Najmi!

Khottal, bebeh!

The crowd at Khottal’s Junk stage performance.

This thing is the coolest thing I’ve seen at Urbanscapes. I should have bought myself one.

I wished I had enough cash to purchase at least one of these gorgeous rings. Y’all know I’m crazy about rings!

PJ skies. And my tembam face.

Junk Stage. Ferns on stage. Or was it Furniture? Can’t remember.

You see Najmi at the back? He’s my loyal companion at the fest, an old friend whom I bumped into after Lab The Rat’s performance.

Yes, mud all over my shoes. Not nice.

The main stage.

That pretty girl with the black scarf, Nanie was kind enough to bring me along. And the other pretty ladies are her friend

Moonshine booth and Moonshine wall-of-fame (lah sangat).

Nanie showing some love.

Yes, what I wore to Urbanscapes was my overused black tube jumpsuit with this red kebaya as cardigan. Felt a bit kampung as compared to other stylish urbanites there.

What I Wore: black tube jumpsuit from Topshop, loafer from Vincci, red kebaya top from Scarlet, head scarf/pashmina from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, oversize brown belt from F.O.S, black studded sling bag from Aldo.
